Stockholm University, a modern university with a multicultural environment, is one of the world’s leading education institutes. Here more than 35,000 students and 5,000 staff are active within science, the humanities and the social sciences.

Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry (MMK – www.mmk.su.se) is a leading institution in materials synthesis and processing, structural characterization and materials applications. It compromises the research areas physical chemistry, inorganic and structural chemistry, and materials chemistry, the latter is one of the leading research areas of Stockholm University. The extensive research activities of MMK span over materials chemistry, solid state chemistry and applied colloid chemistry focusing on e.g. porous materials, hybrid materials, intermetallics, ceramics and soft matter. Understanding the synthesis-structure-property relationships is our focuses. Important characterization methods at the department today are X-ray, electron and neutron scattering, scanning and transmission electron microscopy and various spectroscopic methods.

MMK gives a number of courses in chemistry at bachelor level and are host for the masters programme in materials chemistry.

To this strong research and educational environment MMK is now making a strategic recruitment of an assistant professor in inorganic chemistry with focus on materials.
