SUMMARY:FEBS Junior Sections talk: Professor Florian Rüker
DESCRIPTION:About the FEBS Junior Sections talks:\nIn 2021 young representatives of some of the national Societies that form FEBS started a network of students and young researchers across Europe: the FEBS Junior Sections initiative. Their aims are to collaborate and share resources\, as well as to encourage mobility across Europe for young scientists in the molecular life sciences. \nCurrently the FEBS Junior Sections initiative includes the junior sections of the Austrian\, Croatian\, Dutch\, German\, Italian\, Spanish\, and UK national Societies. They are keen to invite young researchers and sections from other FEBS Societies to join their initiative. They also want to encourage those Societies that do not have a junior section\, to set one up. To support this\, they have created posts and videos on the FEBS Network describing their national junior sections. \nIn addition\, the members of the FEBS Junior Sections initiative take turns organizing monthly online talks on research and career topics. In 2021 they organized a talk from the Wellcome Sanger Institute and one from the team at EMBL-EBI that co-developed the AlphaFold database. \nIn 2022 they started a new series of talks in January with Dr Andreas Schlundt\, at Goethe University Frankfurt talking about The roles of sequence\, structure and dynamics for specific RNA-recognition by proteins. The February talk was from Prof Andreas Laustsen\, at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU)\, about Bridging academia and bioentrepreneurship. \nThe March talk was from Dr Tessa Sinnige\, at Utrecht University\, on “Elucidating the molecular mechanisms of protein aggregation in C. elegans as a living model system”. \nThe April talk was from Prof. Igor Stagljar\, from the University of Toronto\, Canada on “My story about life\, science and success”. \nFlorian Rüker’s talk:\nSpeaker: Prof. Florian Rüker\, from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU)\, Vienna. \nTopic: “Circumventing immunization by in vitro directed evolution and selection of human antibodies from large surface display libraries” \nTime: 12 May 2022\, 19:00 (CET)\nFor registration and more information about the talk: \nhttps://network.febs.org/posts/ogmbt-young-life-scientists-austria-febs-junior-sections-present-florian-ruker
