DESCRIPTION:Public lecture by \nNobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry 2017 \nJacques Dubochet\nUniversity of Lausanne\, Switzerland \nTitle: “The science that gave me a Nobel Prize and the science that didn’t”\nTime: 17:30\nPlace: Kårhusets Aula (Auditorium) \nAbstract:\nHonorary Professor Jacques Dubochet has\, together with Joachim Frank and Richard Henderson\, been awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2017 ”for developing cryo-electron microscopy for the high-resolution structure determination of biomolecules in solution”. \nBy rapidly cooling water\, vitrifying the water instead of crystalizing it\, Dubochet opened up for the possibilities of studying aqueous systems (including biological material such as membranes\, proteins\, and other biomolecules) using cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM). \nTake this opportunity and come and listen to Dubochets telling about his discovery that awarded him the Nobel Prize as well as other discoveries that didn’t. \nWelcome! \nInfo \nThe lecture is open to the public and will be held in english. Doors open at 17:15. Note that there is a limited number of seats in the auditorium.
