In a new article, Nature gives an insight into the politics that want to eliminate animal testing in all circumstances when it is not absolutely necessary, and into the new techniques that make this possible, such as organs-on-chips, organoids and AI. These methods can sometmes be better at mimicking human biology than animal models, but they’re a long way from replacing animal procedures completely, say scientists.
